ABOUT UNDER ONE MOON ARTS FESTIVAL

Our Mission

As seniors at Animas High School, we spend the majority of our core class time working on a Senior Project, which includes three parts: a thesis, a TED Talk, and an action project. For our action project, we are planning to put on an arts festival to connect the community and raise money for children in the arts. Our goal in this project is to further connect artists and community members in our town. We hope to bridge the gaps between age, art forms, and different communities of artists. Our common goal through this project is to raise money for youth access to the arts through the shared love of a variety of art forms, including music, dance, and visual arts. We will be donating our proceeds to two organizations, The Genesis Inspiration Foundation– a nonprofit organization founded in 2018 with a mission to connect youth to the transformative power of the arts- as well as Durango Friends of the arts- an all-volunteer organization raising funds for projects and programs whose goals provide educational and cultural benefits to the people of the greater Durango area-. We will connect student artists with local and regional performing artists, along with connecting organizations and art forms in our community. This celebration will not only bring Durango citizens together, but will also provide a platform to help under-resourced youth access the arts both  locally and in our nation. One hundred percent of our proceeds will be divided between the two organizations and donated.

Crafting Unmatched Experiences

I have lived in Durango my whole life, and throughout my time spent here, I have loved the presence of the arts in our community. I have been a musician for over 10 years, and I look forward to connecting local musicians in our community. I am eager to create an event that will bring new perspectives to our town and join individuals who otherwise wouldn't cross paths.

Curating Unforgettable Moments

I was born in Durango and have been here my whole life. I've been designing and making clothing for over a decade and started sewing 7 years ago. Although my photography is amateur, I love practicing. Listening to music and playing it is my favorite way to pass time. I am incredibly excited to work with and collaborate with different communities for our festival!

Bringing Art to Life

I have been in Druango my whole life, and have been dancing with different local studios for almost 10 years. I am currently dancing with the Prickly Pear dance, and am in the Youth Ballet Company. I also love music and am excited to combine my love of music and dance in this festival!

Designing a brand new experience

I have lived in Durango for about eight years. Throughout this, I have made sure to take advantage of local arts programs that are offered. I especially enjoy painting, drawing, and singing, and I can't wait to bring our community together with our festival.
